Leigh Anne and Collins Tuohy, from the Blindside, are Alex and Ani super fans and have shared their love for us with this year’s Oscar favorite…Sandra Bullock. Collins Tuohy called us back in January and asked for Alex and Ani to design an exclusive bangle set for the actress “to say we love you and good luck” at the Oscars.
Collins told us last week, “We are SOOO excited about the piece for Sandy she is going to LOVE it. It is rare that these women have things specially done for them that are personal and your company offers the perfect thing for that. Thank you again! ”
Everyone at Alex and Ani is waiting to see if Sandra Bullock will wear our set on the red carpet tonight and are crossing our fingers she will win the Oscar for Best Actress! A special Big Brothers Big Sisters bangle, designed by Alex and Ani, was revealed last night during the Ladies’ 2010 Spring Preview at Oak Hall in Memphis Tennessee. We have chosen a charm which we feel represents the importance of mentoring. Our “Wings to Soar” charm symbolizes what we feel Big Brothers, Big Sisters is all about. The mentors are volunteering their time and effort to help their little brothers and sisters soar to new heights, so they essentially give their younger counterparts wings to reach goals that maybe once thought unreachable. We are proud to create a charm to benefit this most important program.
The Alex and Ani Wings To Soar Bangle is being sold at the Ladies’ 2010 Spring Preview event, which will continue today. Ten percent of all proceeds are being donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Memphis.
BBBS did such an amazing job of promoting the unveiling of the Wings to Soar Bangle, the turnout last night was spectacular! Everyone LOVED the charm and the meaning behind Alex and Ani…we were so well received by the guests of the event, the bangles nearly sold out on the first night. We look forward to welcoming that same energy today as we did last night!

While Carolyn was in Tennessee supporting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Memphis, she had the opportunity to dine with Leigh Anne and Collins Tuohy. The Tuohy family was the inspiration behind the hit movie ‘The Blindside’. Leigh Anne had fallen in love with Alex and Ani while she was shopping on Saks.com and came upon our expandable wire bangles.
Leigh Anne was getting compliments on her bangles every time she wore them, and Collins had started wearing them as well. They both became such huge fans of Alex and Ani, they contacted us and as it turned out Carolyn had a trip already planned to Tennessee!
They met last night for dinner and automatically hit it off! Carolyn had said, “Meeting with Leigh Anne was so refreshing…being around a woman who is so comfortable in who she is and has no limits or boundaries around her truly inspired me. She exemplifies the word empowerment.”
