As you may have seen on our Instagram, we’re committed to showcasing real stories of real people in 2018. From our emails to our retail stores, we’re highlighting everyday people, authentic moments, life events (both happy and sad), and much more. ALEX AND ANI is designed to connect you to the things you adore, the causes you support, and the symbols that inspire, and we look forward to strengthening our connection to you, our fans, in a meaningful way.

We’re kicking off Mother’s Day with a series of interviews featuring members of the ALEX AND ANI team and their experiences with unconditional love. In the interview below, Lilit Capaldi (@lilo_cap) explains how motherhood has opened her eyes to the power mothers hold.

How would you define your personal experience with motherhood?
I am loving every minute of it! I feel like my life has more of a purpose now – it’s not about me anymore, it is about keeping this beautiful little human healthy and happy.

Describe your relationship with your child(ren).
Liliana is attached to me. She is at such a fun stage where she clings on to me when people try to hold her. It is such a beautiful bond that we share and you know it is love at its purest form.

Mothers are superheroes defying time, gravity, and a need for sleep. Can you tell us about the first “I was made for this” moment you had as a new mother?
Honestly, every day and every time I look at her. It is so much work but just looking at her face reminds me that it’s all worth it.

Was there ever a moment where you felt you weren’t cut out for motherhood? Who (if anyone) helped you realize your strength and how did you power through it?
The first few weeks after Liliana was born were tough when when I was running on no sleep. It is so hard, but somehow you just keep going, and you realize how strong you really are and how much your body can handle. Mothers are true superheroes and I respect them so much more after becoming one.

Show your mother or mother figure how special she is with pieces from our Mother’s Day Collection.
