Some of you may not know that Alex and Ani CEO Giovanni Feroce and Founder/Creative Director Carolyn Rafaelian both pursued baccalaureate degrees at URI. While Carolyn transfered to The American College in Los Angeles for a more hands-on learning experience, Giovanni is a proud member of the class of ’91, and both have fond places in their hearts and memories for the Rhode Island-based school. So much so, that when they were approached about receiving honorary doctorate degrees they were spellbound.

Additionally, Giovanni will be addressing the graduating class of 2013 at the 127th commencement exercises to be held on Saturday and Sunday, May 18-19th, and Carolyn will be sharing a few inspirational words.

Honorary degrees will also be conferred upon Mary Kennard, Esq., vice president and general counsel of American University, who was a former vice president at URI; Robert A. DiMuccio, chairman, president and CEO of Amica Mutual Insurance Company; and Franklin Wallace Simon, president of The Simon Companies.
