Beauty Tips: Winter Skin

Welcome back for another beauty tip with Director of Beauty, Joseph Allaire. As winter sets in, more often than not, the cold air zaps the moisture from our skin. We may find ourselves liberally applying lotion and generously coating our lips with lip balm. Fortunately, there are steps we can take to ensure optimum moisture is both replenished and retained.

Soft skin begins from the inside, so be sure to stay hydrated! Drinking plenty of water will help keep skin smooth and supple throughout the winter months. Also, use a humidifier from time to time to restore moisture in the air. Indoor heat strips moisture from the air as well as your skin.

Our bodies have reduced oil production in the winter months, which is why using thicker, heavier products containing ingredients such as cocoa and shea butter are best. They help restore and lock in moisture on the coldest of days for optimum hydration.

Also, when walking outside, be sure to bundle up with hats, gloves, scarves and even ski masks! This is a simple way to help prevent moisture loss and chapping, and who wouldn’t love that?

The winter months may be taxing on our skin, but that doesn’t mean we can’t greatly reduce the effects. With a simple regimen, we can combat the cold and keep our skin feeling and looking its best!
